Hi! My name is Kendal. I'm a journalist & editor.

I am a recent graduate of the University of Central Florida. During my time in the nationally recognized journalism program at UCF, I wrote more than 400 articles and held six internships. I've always had an ingrained curiosity, a love for storytelling, and an empathetic nature, which is what led me to journalism. I aim to dedicate my life to giving others a voice, telling their stories, and helping them understand the world around them. I hope this collection of work shows my dedication to making that a reality.

Already an award-winning journalist and a “ground-breaking leader in the field,” I'm ready to fully immerse myself in the professional sphere. With stories published in The New York Times, Orlando Sentinel, Orlando Business Journal, and several other publications, my key areas of expertise are business, political, and investigative reporting.

My experience.

I have experience in editing, feature writing, sports reporting, business news, political reporting, investigative journalism, and breaking news reporting. I've worked with various forms of media, including print, digital, radio, and video.

Last summer, I worked at The New York Times as an intern on the Flexible Editing desk through the Dow Jones News Fund. I now freelance for The Times as a Florida correspondent, covering higher education and the economy. I'm a two-time Dow Jones News Fund scholar and have won several awards for my work at the Florida News Awards. I will be at the Orlando Business Journal through August, but will be looking for a role in politics or business reporting, or in general news reporting, following the conclusion of my contract. To learn more, check out my LinkedIn. or Muck Rack.

See my work for different news outlets.

My mission is to pursue journalism in an accurate, ethical, and empathetic way, being a voice and watchdog for those who need it the most.
